My boyfriend and I live in two different countries. He's Finnish and is currently studying a degree in Finland, and I'm Danish and live with my two kids in Denmark.
Being so far from each other can be hard, especially on days where you just need a hug (thank the gods for free internet calls) But, it is also wonderful and bring so many wonderful things with it.
And it got the perk of traveling to another country when visiting each other.
My trip started very early a monday morning. It was so foggy and cold. In the middle picture above, you would normally be able to see this our local castle.
I walked to the train station and took the 4 hour long trainride to the airport. I was lucky and arrived in a quiet airport, so check-in and getting through security took less than 20 min.
The flight was uneventful, if you don't count my body's fucked up reaction to flying. Dry throat, couging, pain in my jaw and ears. But luckily the flight is only 1 hour and 35 min.
When I arrived at the airport it was filled with asian tourists being led around by travel agents. Apparently Helsinki airport is a big layover for asian tourists. With my perfect (-ly fuked up) sense of direction I of course missed my exit and ended up in the wrong arrival hall. My phone refused to go online or even find network so there was no way to contact my boyfriend who was waiting at another arrival point, and I had no idea how to find that place. Finally I managed to find a signal and got a message through to him. I'm pretty sure I looked like a lost puppy when he found me. Let's just say that being lost in a big airport filled with people speaking a language you don't understand, and not being able to find the person your meeting, after traveling around 9 hours, was not my idea of fun. Luckily he did find me, and we arrived safely at his house about an hour later. And then I fell promptly asleep on the couch after dinner. I'm such a romantic.
We spend the weeks doing all kinds of awesome things together. We took a daytrip to Tampere where we visited the museum and saw the Vampire Exhibit, along with some other cool exhibits.
We also spend a lot of time sight seeing the local area. Because of my ankle, walking long distances are limited, but we went a lot of places where we could drive most of the distance. Since it was February it was cold, but not nearly as cold as it could have been, and as a Dane, the snow was awesome. We don't really get a lot of snow here. And I think I said "ups" about a million time trying to walk around with all the ice on the roads hehe.
Finland is such a cool place and there is so much to see, and I totally recommend anyone having the chance, to go there.
Ive been nominated for the blogger recognition award (squee) by the wonderful Frantasmagoria. She blogs about some really cool stuff, so check out her page.
Why did I start this blog?
Well, I'm a creative person. I write, paint and draw, and blogging was just another way for me to use my creativity. After I made my website, it seemed like a logical step to include a blog :)
My blog is more of a creative outlet than a job, and so I don't really have a theme, as you'll find on most blogs. I blog about all the things I love and find interesting. I know every advise for bloggers is to find your theme and stick to it, but I'm not in it to earn money, or get millions of readers (not that theres anything wrong with that as a goal) so I can allow myself to be a bit all over the place.
Two pieces of advice for new bloggers
1) Network. Join twitter, and use the #writingcommunity. There is so many awesome bloggers out there, ready to help and answer questions. Join blog shares, find people to swap blog posts with. Be part of the community and it will help you so much.
2) Plan. This is probably the best advice I can give. In the beginning blogging seems so easy and then suddenly it isn't. And that's when planning helps :) I wrote a few posts about how I planned a whole year that you can check out if you're interested.

(I know it says 15 bloggers in the rules, but I'm so bad at saving links, so I have to do some digging to find all the blogs I like to read. I normally just go to read them when they post on twitter :P I promise to add more when I find them)
Rules For The Blogger Recognition Award
Sometimes, even the best of plans can be ruined, and March is a perfect example of this. I had all my blogposts and social media planned out. This being the womens history month, I was gonna write and post about female authors through history, and I was really excited about it.
And then February just ended up being filled with so many things, that when March finally came around I was so tired that even trying to write or go online made me wanna fall asleep.
Seriously, this was my february schedule:
11th - 16th: Visited my parents (Danish winter vacation for schools)
20th - 24th: Went to a summer house with the whole family. Celebrated my dads birthday and my grandmothers 90th birthday.
25th - 3rd: Went to Finland to spend a week with my boyfriend.
So when I came home from Finland I not only missed my boyfriend a lot, and was sad that it’s gonna be months before we can see each other again, I was just plain old tired.
So, instead of stressing and feeling bad, I decided to give myself a break. So for the last two weeks I've done other stuff instead. I have been working on my cross stitching, I've been cleaning, and having fun with my kids. and I've allowed myself to watch way to much Netflix.
But, know I’m back on the horse again, so to speak. And I’m gonna start posting normally on my blog again and actually be active on twitter :P
Have you had a nice and productive month so far?
A writer's life
This is the blog where a slightly crazy author writes rambling posts about everything and nothing. There's posts about my books, writing and social media. Posts about cooking and reviews. And there's posts about life and the challenges I have set myself in 2019.
Please notice: I do not earn money on this blog. I do not have affiliated links, and I'm not paid by any product I might mention on this blog. I'm just an artist who loves to blog. If you want to support me, buying one of my books would warm my heart. If they aren't to your taste, then support another indie artist instead.
We could all need your help.
Thank you <3
