Hate it or love it, it's hard to ignore Valentine's day. It's on tv, in stores, on social media. It's absolutely everywhere.
Normally Valentine's Day is a day of flowers, romantic dinners and chocolate (all the chocolate). When your boyfriend is in another country, studying for four years, things is a bit different though. So today there’s gonna be a lot of messages and cute hearts and stuff send back and forth.
Luckily I’m going to spend all of week 9 with him, and we’ll make up for not spending valentine’s day together.
So, if you’re sitting alone today like me, I recommend a good book. Books make everything better <3
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld
I've not read this one myself, but a friend of mine have highly recommended it, and it's on my to read list.
Young Sybel, the heiress of powerful wizards, needs the company of no-one outside her gates. In her exquisite stone mansion, she is attended by exotic, magical beasts: Riddle-master Cyrin the boar; the treasure-starved dragon Gyld; Gules the Lyon, tawny master of the Southern Deserts; Ter, the fiercely vengeful falcon; Moriah, feline Lady of the Night. Sybel only lacks the exquisite and mysterious Liralen, which continues to elude her most powerful enchantments. But Sybel's solitude is to be shattered when a desperate soldier arrives bearing a mysterious child. Soon Sybel will discover that the world of men is full of love, deceit, and the temptations of vast power.
The Devil all the Time
If romance is not your thing, I recommend this book. It's one of my favourite books, and is absolutely amazing.
In the backwoods of Ohio, Willard Russell’s wife is succumbing to cancer, no matter how much he drinks, prays, or sacrifices animals at his "prayer log." Meanwhile, his son Arvin is growing up, from a kid bullied at school into a man who knows when to take action. Around them swirl a nefarious cast of characters—a demented team of serial killers, a spider-eating preacher, and a corrupt local sheriff—all braided into a riveting narrative of the grittiest American grain.
Have a wonderful day.
A writer's life
This is the blog where a slightly crazy author writes rambling posts about everything and nothing. There's posts about my books, writing and social media. Posts about cooking and reviews. And there's posts about life and the challenges I have set myself in 2019.
Please notice: I do not earn money on this blog. I do not have affiliated links, and I'm not paid by any product I might mention on this blog. I'm just an artist who loves to blog. If you want to support me, buying one of my books would warm my heart. If they aren't to your taste, then support another indie artist instead.
We could all need your help.
Thank you <3
